BUKHARA REGION

You can not talk about the Bukhara region without mentioning the jewel of this region — Bukhara. Holy Bukhara – this is how we respectfully call this glorious city. An ancient belief says that all Muslim cities are blessed with light from the sky, and only over Bukhara it rises to the sky.

An unprecedented number of mosques are located here, as well as the tombs of many Islamic saints.

Pilgrims from all over the world come here every year to perform the minor Hajj and pay homage to the great ones. But it is not only the pilgrimage that attracts tourists to this city.

After all, Bukhara is not inferior to Samarkand in the abundance and significance of architectural masterpieces. This is because Bukhara is also very old: it has been standing under the scorching sun for more than 2000 years, and during this time it has witnessed wars, each time rising from the ashes, and the glorious times when the city was a major center of the Great silk road.

The symbols of the city are religious buildings of the Samanid period – the Kalyan minaret, the Samanid mausoleum and others. But the modern architectural appearance of the Eastern city of Bukhara acquired in the XVI-XVII centuries.

The walls of the Arch — an ancient citadel and more than 140 monuments, each with its own unique style of construction, fascinating neighborhoods and narrow streets of the old city, where entire areas of the ancient layout have been preserved, have been preserved to this day. Here it is easy to imagine yourself a contemporary of the legendary Khoja Nasreddin.

Bukhara is a city of poetry and fairy tales. Here legends hover over the streets, and in the verticals of the minarets – the flight of human genius, and every stone in the lace of masonry is covered with the dust of eternity.

In the early 90’s, the historical center of Bukhara was included in the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage sites. Thus, most of the city is an architectural monument.

For those who like ecotourism, the Jeyran Ecocenter is located near Bukhara. The nursery for breeding rare endangered species was established in 1997, located in the South-West of the Kyzylkum desert, 42 km from Bukhara and has the status of a protected natural area.

The Jeyran Ecocenter has been recognized as one of the most effective centers for breeding rare ungulates. Within 30 years, viable populations of the Jeyran, which disappeared in nature, and Przewalski’s horse, which disappeared in nature, were created.

In addition, the territory of the Ecocenter is home to other species of animals and plants, both common and rare, included in the Red book of Uzbekistan and the International Red book.

The main areas of activity of the Ecocenter “Jeyran” are breeding of rare species of populations, ecotourism, filming and excursions.

There are also separate excursions for children and young people, during which they can not only look at rare animals, but also participate in feeding young animals under the supervision of employees of the Ecocenter. Since the nursery is located in the desert, in summer it is better to go there in the morning, when the sun is not so hot.
