The Syrdarya region is located on the left side of the Syrdarya river. A significant part of the region is occupied by the steppe.
The government of Uzbekistan has approved a program for the development of the Syrdarya region until 2017, according to which conditions for eco-tourism are being created in the region.
For a long time, the lands of the Syrdarya region were considered absolutely unsuitable for conducting any agriculture. However, everything changed in the second half of the last century. The story of the entire period in the life of the inhabitants is a story of endless labor feats, described in poems, stories and paintings.
The region is famous for its Mirzachul melons, which differ from their counterparts grown in other regions with a special aroma and sweetness. Many people will also like fishing in the Syrdarya region.
Especially, tourists and locals revere the Shuruzyak canal. The channel begins in the Syr Darya, stretches across the steppes for hundreds of kilometers, and then flows into the same Syr Darya.
Shuruzyak is very convenient for one-day trips, since it is less than a hundred kilometers from the city to the fishing spots and you can get there by train or commuter bus.
Shuruzyak channel is quite fishy. It is home to ASP, catfish, walleye and snakehead, occasionally even pike and barbels.
